Florida Transplants

I literally just posted about my “garden” but there’s more.

A beautiful woman sent me some plants from her garden, straight from Florida. These babies survived being shipped via mail to my home and I’m doing everything I can to keep them alive. They’re all pretty tired after their travels but hopefully the soil, water, sun, and nutrients that I’ve helped them receive will lead to more beauty, and yummy, in my home.

Tradescantia Pallida: Wandering Jew – The Purple Heart

No one knew what she was when she arrived. She grows little pink flowers and grows easily. I planted the majority of her in my makeshift planter. Some pieces had broken off in transit, so I decided to do some experiments.

First, I put one stem in with the zebrina. I imagine they’re cousins. Hopefully they don’t kill each other. If they don’t, this might turn into a beautiful relationship.

Next, I decided to see what happens if I give her water and sun, with nothing else. Well, I did put a little plant food in there. I mean, a tiny, little bit.

The final experiment involved mixing used coffee grounds, egg shells, and potting soil. We’ll see how she does.

This beautiful woman also sent me a cactus. Let me tell you something! I am in LOVE with this one. These ladies have their very own desert on my patio. They are sitting pretty in potting mixed with dirt and mulch from around the ground in my complex. Say, “Hey, ladies!”

The other two plants are so traumatized by the travel and repotting that I forgot to take their pictures. They both are very wilted and I’m concerned for them. They are both getting a lot of TLC. Callaloo and lemongrass. Both of them love tropical weather, from what I’ve read so I’ve given them their own containers, lots of sun, lots of heat, and lots of love. I’ll come back and add photos of them tomorrow, if I remember.
